with Skala Kamirou, a small port in Rhodes. Boat trips lasts for about an hour, although there are also normal ferries from Piraeus and Rhodes Town. Nimporio is actually the only village in Halki island, as the former capital, Chorio, was gradualy abandoned. Above Chorio, there is a steep rock with a Medieval castle on top, offering the best view of the Aegean Sea.
 Most beaches in Halki island are in a walking distance from each other. Potamos is the most frequented beach because it is organized and only few minutes walk from Nimporio. The beaches in the southern side of Halki island, such as Trahea and Yali, need more attention because they get frequently affected by strong winds. Halki island provides an interesting environment for hiking, among wild mountainsides and few vegetation. A nice boat trip from Halki is to Alinda islet, uninhabited and with gorgeous beaches. |
