| The island of Astypalea belongs to the Dodecanese complex and is found between Amorgos and Kos. It is a tiny island with a few inhabitants, no more than 3,000 permanent residents, but with a lot of natural beauty.
The shape of Astypalea looks like a butterfly and is actually divided in two parts that are connected through a narrow strait. The landscape is mountainous and rocky and the beaches are mostly short and sandy.
Tourism on Astypalea has been developed only in the last years and the island attracts lovers of peace and quiet. The trademark of the island is its Venetian Castle and the path with the picturesque windmills that leads to it. |
