Astypalea Reviews -General

Our room in Astypalea was close to Chora, in the beach named Pera Yalos. There are many rooms to rent there, clean and not expensive compared to other islands. People on Astypalea are so warm and friendly! We figured out that most of the hotel owners do not live on the island but come for the summer to make business. Only a few people live there in winter and most are old. I believe this is a shame because in a couple of decades the small Greek islands will be inhabited only in summer and will be totally isolate in winter. Astypalea is truly a magnificent island. We stayed there three years ago, while we were touring the Greek islands. We stayed for two or three days, I don't remember well but my pictures show a nice place to relax. We didn't swim in many beaches, just the small beach in front of our hotel. Chora is the only village there. Walk in the narrow paths and go to the Castle. You will like the view. Have your meal at the beach taverns, it is more romantic and more "Greek". Most taverns in Greece are excellent, so sit wherever you want without any risk!
