Astypalea is all about pure nature, calm beaches and relaxing atmosphere. I always stay in Pera Gialos, which is close to the beach and the main town. The capital is very picturesque with many cafes, delicious taverns and nice bars. A walk to the castle will give you nice memories and stunning view. The beaches are secluded but extremely clean with crystal clear waters.

I always take my evening coffee in the lovely cafeterias next to the windmills and a drink at the small bars in Chora. You will not see many cars or plenty of traffic, except at the tourist beaches where there is much activity. My advice is to rent a car (jeep preferably because roads are dirt and narrow) and make the tour of Astypalea. There is much wild scenery to enjoy!
