Like
all the Cycladic islands, Tinos Greece has many churches and
monasteries and every single of them have their own
feast day once a year.
The inhabitants of Tinos island, and of all the other islands,
take their traditional customs very seriously so the
local cultural events and the religious feasts are attended
and celebrated with great enthusiasm.
The more important religious
feast is the celebration of the

festivities
during the evening until dawn are taking place with
local music, food and drinks.
Another important religious
celebration is the feast of the Annunciation, on
the 25th of March, during which Tinos is the centre
of various religious festivities
with dances and banquets.
The feast of Agia Pelagia is held in July 23rd in
honour of the vision
of the nun Pelagia (proclaimed
a Saint) with the |

15th of 1940 by the Germans.
The feast of Agia Paraskevi on
July the 26th, the feast of Panagia Katapoliani on September
the 1st, the feast of Stavros on September the 14th
and the feast of Agia Thekla on September the 24th (at
the village of Ysternia) are also important religious
celebrations with dances, local music, food and drinks.
