Syros Events

The 5th Aegean Festival will be held in the Municipal Theatre Apollo in Ermoupolis Syros this year, from July 1st to 11th. Greek and foreign artists will take part in the events that will include opera, concerts of classical music, dance, theatre performances and educational activities. The theatre of Syros, one of the first theatre of the new Greek State, built in 1864 having Scala di Milan as a model, provides a great place to host these events.

The most important event of this year's festival is the presentation of the popular opera Tosca by Puccini (July 1,3,5), where renowned artists will hold the leading roles. Works of Chaikovsky, Motzart and Schubert will also be presented (July 2,4) as well as the play As You Like It by Shakespeare, performed by the pioneer New Yorker theatrical group Aquila Theater Company. The Festival will end with a ball (July 9, 10, 11) where six soloists from Vienna will participate.
