The capital of Sifnos island is Apollonia, a picturesque village with white cube houses, paved streets and nice view to the sea, as it is built amphitheatrically along the slopes of a hill. A very beautiful village is also Kastro, with the most photographed spot of Sifnos island, a small white church with blue dome on a rock by the sea. Artemonas and Exabela are also picturesque villages to visit for their traditional architecture.
The beaches of Sifnos island are sandy and relaxing. Most popular beaches are located on the southern side, where most tourist facilities are found. Vathi, Faros, Platis Gialos and Chrissopigi are the most popular resorts of Sifnos island. In fact, in Chrissopigi, there is a beautiful monastery on a rocky peninsula that gets into the sea. For more privacy, there are many secret coves in Sifnos island, particularly on the northern side.
