accessible following some stairs up. Gift shops, rooms, taverns and cafeterias can be found in a walk around the village. Nightlife is calm, restricted to few bars and lounge cafeterias.
The most famous beaches in Serifos island are Livadi and Livadakia, located in close distance to the port. Another popular resort is Megalo Livadi, on the western side of Serifos island, where a nice place to visit is the Old Minery above the beach. A great strike for better woking conditions had taken place in these mines in 1919 and many workers found death. These mines are not working today but there are many remains in the area.
Serifos island is another small place in the Cyclades that offers great relaxation, away from mass tourism. Its close distance to Athens also makes it a convenient weekend destination. |
