:: The Villages

Schinoussa has a few permanent inhabitants, most of whom live in Chora, the capital village in the centre of Schinoussa. Chora has kept its traditional Cycladic architecture and offers nice views to the sea and the surrounding landscape. Other villages on the island are Mersini and Mesaria, which come alive mostly in summer.

There are many beaches on Schinoussa, most of which are calm and isolate. Although roads on the island are track, distances are small and can be covered on foot. Most popular beaches on Schinoussa are Livadi, Mersini and Almyros, with sandy coasts and crystal water. Some more rocky beaches can be found on the northern side, like Fikios. A few tourist amenities are located around these beaches.
