We just came back from a wonderful forthnight in Santorini, where we held our wedding ceremony! John and I had visited Santorini again about 3 years ago and we were amazed by the beauty of this place. It was even better that we had expected, so our decision to get married under the bright sunset came natural. This time that we got back we found that the island had almost not changed in these three years, only a few more bars opened and some others closed. The rest was the same: the captivating sunset in Oia, the nice beach of Perissa, the narrow streets of Fira, the quiet atmosphere of Imerovigli. Even the bad things stayed the same: the streets were not better at all, remained pretty windy and sometimes rough.
To organize your wedding in Santorini, you need someone to take care of all details. A friend of us suggested Pegasus Suites (she had stayed there last summer and had seen many weddings taking place there). So, we contatced the hotel to set a date and see what was needed. They asked us some cerifications to be translated and when we arrived, we gave them to Giannis, who took care of the rest. I had brought my wedding dress with me and John his costume, which was what they needed us to do. At first, we wanted to get married on April 20th, but this coincided with the Greek Easter, so we picked another date. April 25th was our day!
The ceremony was held by a representative of the major at the time of the sunset. This was the most romantic day in our lives. The weather was calm and a bit chilly, but not windy fortunately! Giannis and a friend of his were our witnesses. Pink flowers were around us, a red carpet was laid and a table had been put right next to the pool. Now everytime I look of our wedding photos and the sunset at the background, I almost cry! They were so moving moments and I could almost touch romance in the air. We stayed a week more in Santorini and also spent our honeymoon there. This island is connected to the most valuable moments in my life.
