It has been two weeks since we returned from beautiful Santorini. The gorgeous landscape is truly one of a kind. The vast caldera, the beautiful traditional villages and the numerous white houses create an extremely picturesque scene. I truly enjoyed the sunset view from Oia. It was breathtakingly awesome. No wonder it attracts so many visitors each year.
Capital Fira was very busy and noisy. Tourists and locals were all over the place. There were plenty of shops selling exquisite hand-made items. I bought a few traditional decorative pieces for home and for gift. Food is fantastic on Santorini. The smell of tasty sea food and meat dishes from the local restaurants made me crave for them, each time we stepped out of the hotel.
We had also been to the beaches of Kamari, Monolithos and Perissa. They all had black sand from the volcano. To me it was odd, since I am so used to seeing golden beaches. It kind of hit me at first in an unusual manner, as if I was walking on charcoal. But the sea view was excellent. The beach bars make some energetic cocktails, too. It really rejuvenated us after a long hour of swimming at the sea.
