Our most wonderful trip to date was two years ago in Santorini. A heaven on earth and very peaceful at that time of the year (late May). My wife and I have always wanted to visit Greece, and more specifically Santorini, for nearly 26 years so this was a dream come true for us. General knowledge and history about Greece along with a movie back in 1982 (Summer Lovers) ignited our desire to go.
It was not only the views that impressed us on
Santorini (which were awesome after all!) but the people, the quiet, the wild landscape, the houses, everything has stayed in our mind as the strongest memories of our life. It is also a great place to walk and hike around. I highly recommend hiking up to Skaros Rock and taking the donkey ride down to the Old Port. Imerovigli is a nice place to stay, the highest on the island and the calmest. Highly recommended if you want quiet and the most stunning vistas. We consistently had great food in all taverns. Only downside is the poor value of the Dollar vs the Euro so everything is rather pricey. Must rent a car and explore the island.
