Santorini and its gorgeous views... How is it possible that some people don't like this awesome place??? I go every year to
Santorini for the last three summers and still I can't get enough of it. Yes, I have met some rude people there, but this hasn't ruined my vacations at all. When you see this marvel of nature, is it possible to think of some unkind people?
I love everything in Santorini. I love the scenery, the villages, the food. We find quick cheap food available when we need it. What you need is to publicize the bus service - it's an easy and nice way to see the island. Also you need better signs on the trail from Fra to Oia - we lost the trail a few times. We would like to be able to hire a guide or buy literature for a guided visit at Ancient Thira - it was a beautiful site, but difficult to understand with no guidance.
Santorini is not as organized as other tourist destinations, but that is part of the charm! Come in April- no crowds! But it's too cold to get into the water. We had fun on the last visit because we rented an ATV and drove to various parts of the island. Each area is worth visiting for a few hours. When the weather is bad (which it was one of the days) there was not much to do. Fira is great for shopping and nightlife and Oia for a serene lunch and afternoon.
