In Santorini, we rented a room with a balcony facing the caldera and I could have stayed there and not moved for days. It was a breathtaking view at all times of the day and evening. It felt private, yet we could go up some stairs next to the balcony and be on the walkway towards the village center (Oia). We also went to Kamari Beach which was clean and not crowded. The food is a bit expensive, but there were some very good reataurants and we could enjoy all types of food.
Santorini has lots of various cuisines, which was nice. Oia's Sunset was the best place to eat (although we also enjoyed several other places!) ... and Panos is the best host! Also a pizza place in Oia also had great patisserie style desserts- I forgot the name of it.
Hire a car or even better a jeep and just take a slow journey around the island and make sure you visit the volcano, it's unbelievable!! Stop the idiots on motorbikes who do wheelies down the road they will kill someone soon and everyone we talk to says they are VERY dangerous to tourists if they are allowed to continue your tourists will not come when people hear about them. We took the day trip to the volcano on Nea Kameni, Thirassia and Oia. Wonderful and surely recommended trip. Fira is very nice for shopping and a meal. See the sunsets, there are lots of lovely places. Feel the romance and fall in love all over again.
