Beautiful but too much waste

The trip: I took the boat (Super Jet) from Mykonos. It was safe but too early in the morning.

Reasons for going to Santorini Island: I have been to Greece several times but never went to Santorini Island. I went there by simple interest as I have heard much about it.

Idea before arriving: Island of culture and beauty with black beaches. As I have been to other islands of the Cyclades before I knew that it would have beautiful villages.

Expectations and opinions: I haven't met fully my expactations. I thought that as the most famous and rich island of the Aegean things would be better organised. There is too much waste on the land near the roads and prices are very high. But except that it is a beautiful island. I understand why it is so popular. The views from the traditional villages perched on the top of those impressive black and red cliffs are extraordinary. The beaches are funny as they have black sand. The sand gets really hot and difficult to walk on. The people of Santorini are very friendly and helpfull.

Favorite thing about Santorini: Just walking in the afternoon in the streets of the villages like Fira or Oia until I find a restaurant with a great view that inspires me and then have a great dinner with fish and white wine and watching the sunset.

Negative opinion: As I told before, the waste beside the streets.

Recommendations: If you have the budget, book a hotel on the caldera with view on the Volcano. I was at Pegasus and it was great.

I won't go back to Santorini Island because the world is big enough for other destinations.
