The trip: Ferry from Mykonos Island. No problem at all.
Reasons for going to Santorini: Heard that Santorini Island is a really beautiful island and very romantic.
Idea before arriving: That it would be a typical Greek Island with beautiful villages and beaches. That the island is particulary beautiful because of the volcanic activity and the rock formations.
Expectations and opinions: It really met my expectations. It is really a beautiful island with many romantic places. I was really surprised by the beauty of the island. I didn't expect that. I have greek friends who told me a lot about the Greek Islands. The views offered bu the island are unique. Santorini is like a small and volcanic planet surrounded by the sea. The villages are also very cute. I spend hours just walking and discovering every corner. I have a passion for photography and must say that Santorini is a heaven for that.
I spent 6 days on the island and rented a small car. It help me to discover the other parts of the island. I loved the island of Oia, Pyrgos and Megalohori. I found the beach of Perissa a little picturesque and the resort of Kamari well orgamised but too touristy. I am not a beach person but was impressed by the endless black sandy beaches.
The island of Santorini also proposed many excursions and museums. Unfortunately I didn't managed to see Akrotiri but realy liked the museum of Ancient Thera.
Favorite thing about Santorini: Just walking in the paved alleys of the villages during late afternoon. Also loved the food. Many restaurants with extraordinary views over the sea, the volcano and the sunset but those views have extra prices.
Negative opinion: Nothing really negative. Too much homeless dogs. But the look healthy.
Recommendations: Just go and visit. Do not stay at your hotel all day long even if you have the most beautiful view in the world and a fresh pool. There are also many other beauties.
Yes, I hope that I will have the opportunity and the time to go to Santorini again. Next time I have to go and visit the volcano and have bath in the hot springs. I would also like to see other places of Greece. Santorini is a great island but very touristy. I would like to discover some authentic areas and people.
