The trip: The trip to Santorini was fine. We took a flight. It was on time, confortable and good crew.
Reasons for going to Santorini: We came to Santorini with friends who are getting married on Santorini island.
Idea before arriving: Not much except from a general idea from postcards we saw: white buildings, dramatic cliffs.
Expectations and opinions: Yes, truly beautiful. The villages perched on the cliffs are amazing. There are charming as Cycladic villages, have great activities and good restaurants. But I must admit that I missed vegetables. It seems that Greek people are meat addicted. The sunsets and views over the volcano were also beautiful and the nightlife really fun. The only default is that villages are too touristy and it looks like everything is made to satisfy the needs of the tourists (and the fake needs).
I didn't liked the beaches of Santorini much... the New Zealand beaches set a high standard.
Favorite thing about Santorini: The sun! The weather in September was great. Not too hot and not cold at all except from some windy days. The temperature of the see was also very good.
Negative opinion: Some staff in shops are very tourist-tired. Must be different in the begining of the season.
Recommendations: Explore - don't just stay by your hotel's pool and drink beers. Santorini has many different kind of beauties. But you have to go after it!
No, we won't go to Santorini again. Even if it is a very beautiful place I would prefer to go visit some of the many places of the world.
