The trip: Flight from Toronto to Athens where we spent a few nights and then flight to Crete and then from Crete to Santorini Island with the "Flycat" high speed ferry.

Reasons for going to Santorini: Santorini was part of our World of Vacations package.

Idea before arriving: We had red that the island was voted as the second best destination in the world. We saw many pics of Santorini before and looked really great. Scenic, narrow streets, white houses. We also have seen Santorini in movies and had beautiful ideas about it.

Expectations and opinions: Yes, it met our expectations. It is a really beautiful island and it is very understandable why it was voted as one of the top destinations of the world. The landscapes are something unique. It is very impressive when you first arrive there by boat and you see that man has built entire villages on the peak of 300 metres high cliffs. Really amazing. The way of life there for tourists is also very nice. Most of the hotels in the villages offer incredible views over the volcano. In our hotel we had a pool and it was great waking up and having breakfast by the pool and watching at the surroundings. Unique!

Favorite thing about Santorini: The view of the caldera (good stay there and watch for hours. It gives you a great feeling of superiority) and the walks in the villages. The beaches was not my favourite thing there. I prefered much the beaches of Crete.

Negative opinion: You can't drink the water and lack of public toilets and not clean sometimes.

Recommendations: Go there in September/ October

We would love to go to Santorini again. Greece was a great experience!
