Incredible even if high commercial product

The trip: I arrived by plane and trip was fine.
Reasons for going to Santorini: Because it is the most famous island in Greece and the most picturesque (as travel brochures affirm)
Idea before arriving: Not much but more curiosity. The pictures I saw on the internet and the travel brochures were simply amazing. But, as it is a high commercial product it is difficult to judge. Beautiful photos hide many ugly things I think. So I was curious to see if it was as amazing as the pictures.
Expectations and opinions: And it was as fantastic as the photos and even better even if it is really a commercial product. I had an idea of the landscapes and scenery but on a picture you cannot feel the atmosphere. Santorini Island is a really nice place. Beautiful of course but also calm and relaxing despite the mass of tourists that arrive there every day and the commerciality. I recently red that Santorini have been voted as the 2nd top world destination for 2005. I really understand that.
Favorite thing about Santorini: The walks in the little alleys of the villages. Really nice. Walks by day with the constant view of the volcano and walks by night under the stars. The sky there is very clear and many constalations can be seen.
Negative opinion: Not really. Maybe I am a little jealous of friends that came on the island and in Greece in general like 30 years ago. The things were surely different then. They told me so much about the people and the authenticity. Today, as beautiful as it is, you can feel that everything is based upon tourism and that people are not as friendly and welcoming as they were 30 years ago. You can see that if you meet an older person. There are really touching.
Recommendations: Just try it, it won't bite! And don't forget your camera. There, everybody have emotions of artists.
Yes, I would love to go to Santorini again. Just the next time I should bring a better camera.
