Beautiful villages, extraordinary views, volcano

The trip: Flight to Athens, then catamaran to Santorini Island.
Reasons for going to Santorini: We choose Santorini for its the top destination in Greece and always wanted to visit this country. We chose it for its beautiful villages, its reputation for sunsets and its archaeological site and museums.
Idea before arriving: We thought that Santorini would be very crowded with tourists and that the general scenery would be typically Greek.
Expectations and opinions: I was surprised at how small Fira was but that didn't affect my enjoyment of the island. Beautiful and fun, but prices at restaurants and shops are exhorbitant. The beach of Perissa was nice. Can not compare to other beaches of the island as it was the only one we saw. The food was not very good. Too oily. It is extremely expensive, no variety and not as good as in many other european countries.
Favorite thing about Santorini: The small villages atmosphere, the extraordinary views, the volcano, the donkeys, etc...
Negative opinion: too many scooters and motorbikes. Bad food.
Recommendations: Plan a big budget for this island!
I would love to go back to Santorini but with some concerns about the extremely high prices and we would lower expectations about the food.
