More about: Santorini island
Tayla Rubin’s journey from Montreal to the Greek island of Santorini and Melbourne has resulted in the five star show, Ariadne’s Thread coming to Adelaide Fringe. A one woman performance, Ariadne’s Thread is based on Rubin’s poems that she wrote while staying alone in a cave house in Santorini , over a period of 10 months. Rubin moved in to the house, which had been dug into the earth, to find some peace after a break-up in her home in Montreal.
The show is about a story of love gone wrong, and is a semi – autobiography, which is quite accurate, Rubin adds. “I wasn’t fleeing Montreal, but Greece did become a healing place, and the fact that it was stunningly beautiful and someone offered me a place to look after, also held me here”, Rubin, 29 remarked. In exchange for having the house to stay in, Rubin had to take care of the owner’s animals, a cat, a dog and a donkey.
