Underwater volcanic formations were discovered by a group of Greek scientists in sea depth of 160 m to the west of Santorini. They are actually small, submarine volcanos.

At the end of November, the building of the hospital of Santorini will be inaugurated. This will cover the high needs of the permanent inhabitants and the tourists that flow every summer, as the health centre and the community clinics cannot serve the patients.
