 Black and white are colours?
Steven Wintraub, answering this huge painting question in his study "The Color of White", states that black is not a color, but white is. In fact, he states that black is the absence of color, whereas white is the mixture of all colors, and therefore a color itself.
With the above statement as an initiative, 60 renowned artists present their work inspired by the white color in an exhibition entitled "A Pale Shade of White": with wall paintings, sculptures, reliefs, photographs and videos, the artists honor the "color of the colors" and show that white is a favourite color for painters, a lovely means of expression.
Such panting exhibitions are a new institution of Bellonio Foundation, Fira Santorini, which frequently presents art collections in an effort to promote arts and create a core of summer events on the island. Along with this exhibtion, the foundation also organizes educational seminars, concerts, lectures and theatre performances.
The exhibition lasts from 9th August till September 27th
