Archipelagos in Santorini
Archipelagos Restaurant is located at one of the most beautiful spots in Fira.
Housed in a refurbished 19th century captain's home, that has been carved out of the volcanic cliff, the restaurant offers panoramic views of the island, the magical sunset and the Aegean Sea. The evenings, in particular, are truly romantic, when the sun dips into the blue sea and the Aegean sky takes on a magnificent shade of red.
The two verandas of the restaurant literally hang over the caldera gulf and one can have the special privilege of dining in one of the most awe-inspiring sights in Greece. The cuisine is Mediterranean Greek and the dishes are carefully chosen, expertly cooked with quality products.
The interior of the restaurant is artistically done up with art pieces, fine paintings and sculptures. Appetizers include fava, stuffed mushrooms and grilled portobela mushrooms, while the salad list includes Greek, spinach, and green salad or the exotic fried anthotyro (Santorinian soft cheese). Popular seafood dishes at the Archipelago are sauteed squid and fresh cod fillet. The fresh salmon with champagne or sinapi sauce are also toothsome choices at the Archipelago. Pastas and risotto are either combined with seafood or chicken or with sun dried tomatoes, a Santorinian specialty, to create mouthwatering dishes.
The traditional sweet baklava rounds off the meal and one can also opt for chocolate brownies, or a walnut pie with chocolate and mastic ice cream. The wine list has a good selection of Greek wines, including red and white dry wines, as well as rose and sweet wines. Ouzo and Metaxa, a Greek brandy, are also served as aperitifs. There is also a good choice of after-dinner liqueurs at the Archipelago.
The Archipelago also hosts wedding receptions or private celebration, and can offer professional help to their clients in planning an event down to the smallest detail.
