Three kilometres away, at an average altitude of 350 metres, one will find Ancient Thera (Mesa Vouno), to the east of the Prophitis Ilias monastery. In the village of Episkopi Gonia (Mesa Gonia), three kilometres from Kamari, beyond the ruins of the 1956 earthquake, is the church of Panagia tis Episkopis, which was built in 1115 and is the most important Byzantine monument on Santorini.
