The opening of "Watermark" presenting Gisèle's fascinating new photographs and a video installation, has taken place at the Apothiki Gallery on Tuesday the 15th of July at 8 pm.
Dutch photographer Gisèle Aphroditi Lubsen, following successful shows at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts, Paroikia in 2006 and at Aghios Athanasios in Naoussa in 2007, will debut her latest show "Watermark" this summer during her residency at the Apothiki Art Center in Paroikia.
Gisele was born in the Netherlands and she has lived in Switzerland, France and the United States. However, she spent much of her upbringing on Paros.
Using the medium of underwater photography to express a surreal reality, “Watermark” explores the iconography of Classical Greece through contemporary representation. It is a unique blend of ancient and modern elements, presenting aspects of Greek mythology in a refreshingly new way.
