Tour Description

Discover the sacred island of Delos, one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. In the ancient times, Delos was the sacred island of Apollo, the god of light and music. The myth says that Leto, the mother of Apollo, gave birth to him on this island that suddenly emerged from the sea. In fact, the name Delos means that which emerged. An island with a history of 3,000 years, Delos was a very important religious centre in the ancient times. The island was not inhabited but it was frequently visited by pilgrims who were coming to give their gifts to god Apollo. Gradually the island also became a political centre and gave its name to the Delian League, an alliance of ancient towns with Athens as leader.

During your visit on the island, you can see the temple of Apollo, the famous Lions of Delos, the ancient theatre, the temple of Leto and many other monuments. Do not also miss the Archaeological Museum of Delos with all the findings from excavations on the island. After Delos, we head to Mykonos, one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. Have few hours free to walk around the narrow streets of Mykonos Town, see the traditional architecture with the small stone houses and the vibrant colours, have a relaxing coffee in Little Venice, enjoy the view from the Windmills and maybe have a quick swim in one of the gorgeous beaches of Mykonos. In the afternoon, we return to Naxos.

The trip to Delos and Mykonos was well worth going on. The staff aboard the boat were extremely friendly and helpful.
Visiting Delos was extremely interesting. The museum has plenty of original pieces from the island. I would visit Delos again.
Seeing the windmills on Mykonos was amazing. Little Venice had a great feel about it.
The only downside of the trip was when I booked it online, I was told to be at the port for 08:00 as the boat would leave at 08:30. The boat arrived and told us that they were going to Naxos first and would pick us up at 09:30. This resulted in us waiting around for 1.5 hours which could have been avoided.

Answer from Greeka.com
Hello and thank you for your feedback.
Concerning the time you had to wait on Paros, we would like to inform you that the normal schedule is actually to depart at 8.30 from Paros, going then to Naxos to pick other passengers, departing at 09:15 from Naxos to head to Delos.
However, on that day the weather conditions were not good, the wind was about 7 beaufort, and the crew decided it would be better for those starting from Paros not to have to face such long trip with high winds that would make them dizzy. That is why on the specific date, you were told to wait in Paros and the ship came to pick you after returning from Naxos.
Since this was a last minute decision, we could not be informed on the day before in order to inform you accordingly.
We are sorry for any inconvenience.
