Aegean Institute in Paros
Through a combination of field work and classroom sessions, the Aegean Institute offers courses in Marine and Coastal Archaeology. Students are taught how to detect man-made constructions in the chaotic marine environment and they are also introduced to underwater photography, search, survey and excavation techniques.
Guest lectures and our experienced staff make presentations on famous discoveries and current archaeological projects, while the students themselves also dive in submerged Neolithic settlements and ancient shipwrecks. The sea around Paros, located in the centre of the Aegean, is great for such marine archaeology trips. Courses take place in summer and the base of the institute is on Golden beach.
