Windsurfing
The island is world known for the perfect wind conditions
it offers for slalom windsurfing in Greece. During the
summer, the weather statistics are perfect for the daily
practice of the sport. The island is hit by the Meltemi
(north wind) which is blowing mostly during the months
of July and August. The Professional Windsurfers Association
(PWA) is organising since 1993 the annual World Cup at
the New Golden Beach.
