Plaka Beach on Naxos, Greece, was ranked among the top ten beaches in Europe by British travel writer Joanna Symons in her article published in 2005. Mrs Symons described the ambiance of Plaka Beach as “delightfully alternative”. She was enthusiastic about Plaka beach's “...golden stretch of several miles, dotted with loungers and overshadowed by umbrellas...” She also pointed out some of the similarities of Plaka beach to Goa beaches in India: clear blue waters, a mini market where you can get cold drinks and snacks, etc. Joanna Symons frequently travels around the world with her family and publishes her travelogues in magazines and newspapers, including The Telegraph in the UK.
