Axia International Festival takes place annually on the beautiful island of Naxos. For the 3rd year in a row, the festival offers a program full of exciting concerts, exhibitions, master classes and cultural events.

Renowned musicologist, music critic, President of the Gina Bachauer International Music Association and Artistic Director of the Axia International Festival, Constantine P. Carambelas-Sgourdas, proudly presents a world famous line up of artists, environmentalists and young rising stars who will take us into a wonderful journey full of music art and special activities.

In this exciting festival held on August 11th- 18th, visitors will have the chance to see several interesting exhibitions and musical concerts. Important highlight of this year's festival will be the J. Cousteau exhibition. Pierre-Yves Cousteau, son of the legendary explorer and ecologist, will deliver lectures and show important footage out of his personal archive as a special tribute to his father. Moreover, Fish & Olive Gallery situated in the traditional village of Halki will host the painting exhibition of Apostolos Chantzaras, organized by Louisa Karapidaki, an Art Historian at the Research Center of Greek Folklore of the Athens Academy.

Also, for the first time, a number of talented musicians, students of the Gina Bachauer International Summer Music Academy will give a special concert on August 12th. Nigel Shore, Hans Limburg, Keiko McNamara, Hokan Bojernson, Marianna Rigaki, Peter Stergiopoulos, Stathis Mavromatis and Stavros Diamantopoulos will be among the artists appearing on the festival.

In detail, the schedule of the festival will be as following:

August 11th: Halki, Fish & Olive Gallery, Apostolos Chantzaras Painting exhibition, 21:00

August 12th: Gina Bachauer Summer Music Academy Concert, Young musicians and professors of the Academy will present pieces from A. Vivaldi, F. Schubert, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, J. Massenet.

August 18th: Iakovos Kambanellis Hall, Chora, 21:00

Gala Concert – Pieces of F. Chopin, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, G. Rossini, F. Hiller, P. Viardot, J. Massenet, C. Debussy.
