The Jesuit Commercial School: The Jesuit Commercial School, housed inside the Venetian castle was founded in the 17th century. The castle is an imposing structure situated high on the hillside of Chora.
The commercial school no longer functions here and the building now houses the Archaeological Museum of Hora. The most famous alumnus of the Jesuit Commercial School was Nikos Kazantzakis, the reputed Greek philosopher and writer. He is the author of many books including the well-known work “Zobra the Greek” (originally titled Alexis Zorbas). |
