Naxos Mycenaean tomb

One of the most peculiar findings in Naxos is the Mycenaean tomb discovered in the area of Chosti near Koronida (also known as Komiaki).
What makes that discovery a worth-visiting one is its rarity; it constitutes one of the only three Mycenaean tombs found in the Cyclades islands. The other two tombs were unearthed at Tinos and Mykonos.
Its location is also puzzling, as it is rather remote in relevance to the only Mycenaean settlement of the island, which was situated at Naxos Town.

Archaeologists estimate that the tomb was built around 1300 BC to become the last residence of a local ruler, whose identity remains a secret due to the monument’s condition.

Some suggest that it might be dedicated to Naxos - the island's first king. No matter its origins and, although there is evidence indicating that the tomb was looted in the past, it is a sight of historical importance but there is no much to see.

The Mycenaean Tomb is located in Koronida (Komiaki) village.

Public transport: The central bus station of the island is located at the Port of Naxos. There are several buses from Chora to Koronida during the day. Line 2 reaches Koronida. Consider that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here.
