Location: Kerami

The Church of Agioi Apostoloi in Naxos lies near Halki village, close to the abandoned settlement of Metohi.

The edifice dates back to the 12th century, as suspected by the few ambient-covered frescoes that elaborate its interior. It belongs to the cruciform, four-pillar-based temple genre, with symmetric lines and a dome.

What is most striking regarding the church is that it features an upper floor, where the visitor is led by inner narrow stairs. That rare architectural sample makes Agioi Apostoloi the sole temple in Naxos with a second story.
