The west coast has a high reputation for its beaches and rightly so. From Agios Georgios they stretch for miles down to almost the bottom of the island. Along the strip there’s quite a bit of variety. Some have long strips of white sand, some have dunes. Some are highly developed; some don’t even have a shop nearby. There are windy beaches for windsurfers and tranquil beaches for sunbathers. Away from the west coast there is not actually that much to offer in terms of beaches. There are a few on the north coast but it is so windy that few make the journey there.
Kalandos Bay and Moutsouna Bay also have beaches for those who are prepared to make the long trip from the hora.

Pyrgaki

Location: Near the bottom on the west coast run of bays
Description: This beach is right towards the bottom of the island and you follow the road here from Alyko

Agiassos

Location: The bottom beach on the west coast run of bays
Description: Right at the bottom sits Agiassos beach. The sand here is lovely and the beach is undeveloped.

Abram beach

Location: On the way to the village of Apollonas
Description: A very small beach totally unknown.

Apollonas beach

Location: On the North West part of the island
Description: Apollon is a small fishing village. It has a small sandy beach just in front.

Amitis

Location: North coast of the island, near Galini
Description: This beach is one of the few between Naxos town and Apollon. It is a long beach but...

Other beaches :

Moutsouna and other eastern beaches
Moutsouna is a little port located at 38 kilometres away from the capital, and offers various touristy facilities as well as several small sandy beaches scattered around the area.

On the eastern part of the island many isolated sandy beaches and coves can be found, deserted and calm, even during the peak season of summer. Their unspoiled natural beauty is a real pleasure and is waiting to welcome every visitor who wishes to discover them.
