East West Restaurant, located in the heart of Naxos Town, offers family-style dining, and is hugely popular among people looking for a change from the usual Mediterranean fare. The cuisine, as the name suggests, is authentic Asian served in a wine bistro atmosphere and the menu includes Chinese, Indian and Thai dishes.
The service at East West is excellent and the staff are trained to run through the menu with you and recommend what would best suit your tastes. Opened in 2000 by Ian and Lotta, an English-Swedish couple, who have widely traveled India and the far east and absorbed the traditional cuisines of these lands, the restaurant is a reflection of their trips. East West is a boon for vegetarians, as there is a wide choice of vegetable dishes on the menu. For starters, there are seafood rolls and vegetarian spring rolls, crunchy popadums, crab-filled avocado, and chicken Satay (a Thai specialty made from roasted marinated chicken drizzled with a spicy peanut sauce).
The menu also includes a list of tasty Thai soups flavored with coconut cream and exotic spices. Among the Chinese main dishes, there is the stir fried vegetables and sweet and sours, the traditional Chinese fried rice and fried noodles, as well as black bean garlic sauce, a wok-fried vegetable dish in a tangy sauce with a choice of pork, beef or chicken. The Indian fare includes the spicy chicken vindaloo, shrimp masala, prepared from a mix of exotic Indian spices and coconut, and the ever-popular Indian chicken dish, the tikka, prepared from tender-cooked chicken smothered in a creamy curry sauce. Children can have chicken and plain noodles or half portions of the main dishes.
There is a fully-stocked bar with an extensive collection of local wines and labels from all over Greece. The restaurant is located near the Court Square in Chora, and is open only in summer.
