Sterilization program for animals
Posted by Greeka on 28 Apr 2009
The association Friends of Animals of Mykonos has announced that sterilization programs are about to start soon with the local veterinarian. This is an effort of the association to control the overpopulation of cats and dogs on the island. Most of these new-born cats and dogs result as stray animals that wander around on the streets of Mykonos.
Friends of Animals of Mykonos is an active association that deals with the protection of stray, sick or wounded animals. They try to keep them protected and safe in organized areas or persuade people to adopt them. As the organization has no funds, it is mostly based on donations by individuals and bazaars that are frequently organized. A special attention is also paid to educate the Greek population on themes of animal protection and welfare.
