More about: Mykonos island
Before I visited Mykonos, I saw the romantic island locales in a Bollywood movie. This is a nice place to connect with yourself and celebrate with your friends as well as strangers. Language could be an issue to interact with/and befriend local tourists.
Despite being vegetarian, I didn't face any challenges. Most of the restaurant staff was extremely friendly to cook something special out of the menu to meet my requirements. There were several options across the island, on beaches and it was always to treat to take a seat in one of the local restaurants. Blue Bar (which also includes a cybercafe) downtown close to the port was my favourite - very helpful staff, fabulous harbour view with windmills in background, relaxed music, great F&B options.
My advice is to plan well in advance if travelling during peak-season, don't trust your friends who've travelled during lean season and assure you of easy accommodation on arrival. I was walking for 2 miles before I find my hotel and nobody knew where it was. I must had asked 20 people but they didn't know. There are too many hotels in
Mykonos, so I suppose it isn't that strange that people can't remember all the names...
Spend the day at beach and stay awake to experience nightlife downtown. This is a safe island. I travelled myself, stayed for a week there and faced no problem.
