Mykonos in August
If you want to party all day and all night, if you like the crowded places, clubs and beach bars full of hundreds of people dancing and drinking... and if you are single I guess.. then Mykonos is the place for you.
Especially in August, the island gets so crowded that all places seem full. The streets, the traditional Greek labyrinth paths seems even more tight with all the people walking around, shouting, singing or... drinking.
This crowded feeling follows you everywhere near the port and the town there called Chora. Beaches like Paradise and Super Paradise are actually big beach parties, with loud music and people dancing all day and night. With all this clubbing and party by the day, you can easily imagine what happens in Mykonos by night.
But be careful! The island has the perfect party reputation for summer vacation, but also attracts a big number of homosexuals and transsexuals. If you are one of them, enjoy! If not, be careful what kind of bars you enter, so you won't get surprised or get into uncomfortable situations. Same happens outside the bars too, it's up to you which places you visit and how much this annoys you or not.
If you don't like that kind of amusement, I would suggest you to stay outside of Chora, or try to visit the island at another time of the year, not August! Accomodation can be pretty expensive in some of the hotels, but you can always find a cheaper room to let or even camping.
After an exhausted night out, you can enjoy a coffee at one of the many coffee shops by the port, always with the company of the pelicans.
