Mykonos is an exceptionaly charming island with one of the quaintest town centres! The nightlife is non-stop with something for everyone. It's a fantastic place to people watch, everything goes on Mykonos. The beaches are also lovely and clean, despite the crowds and the party atmosphere after 5 is amazing! If you want some sightseeing, you can always pop across to Delos. I didn't actually notice anything I would consider historical on the Island. Perhaps because I wasn't looking for it?
You have to know where to eat in Mykons, to eat well. Otherwise, I'd say most of the taverns are pretty standard. I was impressed with the seafront tavern at Paraga. The food was lovely (and reasonably priced) and the waiters extremely polite and friendly.
I must admit that for an island which could literally sink under the hundreds of thousand of visitors it receives, it is well organised and most importantly: clean! Did you know that little old men and women come out at six in the morning and whitewash the little lanes that run through the town? There could be a few more taxis on the Island and the issue of "reserved" sunbeds is somewhat facist!
Book accomodation and ferry / plane tickets well in advance. Ladies, I would advice against high heels on the Island, especially as until you work out the maze of little lanes in the town centre - you'll be doing a lot of walking!
