Check seafood before you order

Mykonos Review:

Mykonos has the aspects which will suit a lot of holiday makers, quieter beaches and shining white villages or busy party beaches and large hotels. We chose a quiet cheap hoilday during the day, enjoyed a half day excursion to Delos close by and took an easy bus ride into town for food and clubs. Beautiful island with some sandy beaches. Taxis were reasonable although the locals mentioned there weren't enough for the island during peak season.

During our stay in Mykonos, we found the food at restaurants much more satisfying and prices were similar to tavernas. Greek salads are a must! Very refreshing on a hot holiday enjoyed shaded from the sun with a chilled drink! We tried a varied of dishes (with a vegetarian with us) but for me the Moussaka was exquisit and swordfish was brilliant. The aubergine's too! Mmm! Just be careful when ordering seafood anywhere, never order seafood you cannot see and carefully assess the price as some are charged by weight! We could not get enough of the Gyros (kebabs) in Greece, as a cheap snack or filling lunch with a Greek salad, there is definately something special about it.

For coffee shops, I didn't really enjoy the coffee in Greece so we made our own on the island and (I expect some of you may disapprove) went to the local Starbucks in Athens to get our caffeine fix!
