Mykonos Armenistis Lighthouse

Location: Agios Stefanos

The Armenistis Lighthouse of Mykonos is ideally located in the area of Cape Armenistis.

The old lighthouse stands like a sentinel over the region and comprises a mute testimony to the rich maritime past of Mykonos. Nowadays, the legendary lighthouse is managed by the Hellenic Navy's Hydrographic Office.

The lighthouse is 19 meters in height. The best part about this lighthouse, which is conspicuous by its octagonal tower, is that it is still in operation. To visit the Armenistis lighthouse, one has to take the road from Agios Stefanos.

    Many stories to tell
Far from civilization, this amazing lighthouse stands at the edge of a rock, facing the sea. It must be at least two centuries old, which makes me imagine all the stories that it must have seen: sea gulls coming and going, ships passing by, people looking at the sea, children playing around. This is a lovely spot of Mykonos and not very famous, so it is more likely that you will be alone or with few people as company. No bus goes to the lighthouse, you will have to rent a scooter/car to go. Also do not miss the dam of Marathi and the quiet beach of Panormos, only a few km from the lighthouse. What you need for a peaceful day in Mykonos.
