:: Beaches 2

Mykonos offers a number of fantastic beaches most of which serve different purposes for different people. Avoid Paradise if you are looking to enjoy some peaceful sunbathing. Avoid Agios Stefanos if you are looking for party atmosphere.
An important thing to note is the issue of sun loungers. They are present on pretty much every beach on the island. But beware. This is not some generous gesture on behalf of the island to provide visitors with comfortable cushions and shade. People do come round to get the money.
At other places the loungers are in front of bars where your custom will be expected if you use them.
And then there are the loungers which are exclusively for the use of the people who are staying in the hotel behind them.

On some of the beaches 90% of the area is covered with the loungers so it’s hard to avoid their impact.

Other beaches:
- Korfos: This sandy beach is also exposed to the northern wind and appreciated by windsurfers. The beach is located in the south-west of the island, close to Chora.
The beach is very close to the road and you can not miss it as you approach Ornos. This is a really dreadful ‘beach’ and does not seem to be in use anymore. The sand is strewn with rubbish and there also looks like there is waste from nearby factories. It is as bad as it sounds!

- Frangia: this organized beach is mostly used for barbecue trips and cruises.

- Glifadi: this small beach is mostly appreciated by families.
