Category: Milos Gerontas

I gave my best not to give less than four stars to any of the beaches, but I simply couldn't do it with this one.
First thing first - I would not call Gerontas beach at all. The strap of sand is soooo tiny that if you lay down, half of your body will be in the water. :)
The rest of it behind are some rocks on which you cannot sit. Five people are way too much for this place.
Second, expect to see young naked/nude people there. For some reason, they find it the best place to go there, have "fun" and take photos of each others' naked bodies. And you are all over each other.
The road to Gerontas is, well, funny. A lot of bumps, not completely safe for normal car, but you could go there by normal car without consequences. Just drive slowly. The road goes up up up, then several crazy turns and so on. Pretty wild but ok.
At the end, you have to walk down a little, up to tens minutes, through not very comfortable terrain. For me it was nothing, normal slope and rocks, but someone who never walked in a wild nature could find it ouch, especially for thorns.
The only nice thing is the view over the open sea, because it's nice.

We visited Vani from the sea, by boat.
It has a small beach, but I wouldn't count on swimming there.
However, the view is magnificent - the colours, rocks and their passages, shapes! Everything!
Even if you don't go on a boat trip around the island, I suggest you to take 4 x 4 and get there. It's worth it, because you can combine it with Kalogries beach(es), which is a wonderful place for itself.

Wild and not for staying

I gave four stars exclusively for its appearance - wild beauty, sea caves, big rocks and wild waves.
So, it's worth visiting for several minutes if it's on your way.
However, have in mind you'll probably won't be able to sit or swim there. It's not pebbled beach, it's a wild thing, with bigger rocks with no possibility to sit there and enjoy and. More important, it can be very dangerous. Big waves in combination with those rocks in the water and you are a dead person.

I didn't visit this beach from the land, so I don't know how difficult is to get there.
We stopped from the sea, on our tour around the island.
The beach itself is not something to die for. It is a small, simple beach. Still, it is worth visiting because of the mines, as the complete area looks special and interesting. You will have peace and enjoyment.

Category: Milos Kastanas

Kastanas was one of my favourite beaches. There are several reasons:
- So colourful! As you can see on my photos, pebbles are of million colours and shapes and I couldn't stop looking at them.
- Peaceful, with almost no people.
- Clean and clear water.
- Unbelievable seabed! We couldn't stop snorkelling! We saw literally tens of types of fish! Big small, tigers, leopards, fluorescent... It was magnificent!

Bad side - well, pebbles. You need some rubber or other sandals/shoes which you'll wear boat outside and inside. And we could not set up the tent, so it was super-hot and without shade.

Great look but with tons of garbage

I give four stars and not less just because the beach is really cute. It's shape, especially from the distance, is original and not real.
However, that garbage!!! I don't know what is it with all these beaches on the north, but especially Kapros. The water is full of it, and this was the only beach that had garbage on the coast too.

I could see Kalogeros from the balcony of my hotel, since it was relatively close, so I have special feelings towards them. :)
We also passed near them on our boat tour, and I can say it's a nice rock formation, although not comparable to Glaronissia.

The most impressive after Kleftiko

Glaronissia was the second thing that left me speechless on our boat tour around the island. First was Kleftiko.
You have to experience it live! When you get close to those islets, you will remain speechless because of their crazy formation. Absolutely stunning!
I'm only sad for not being able to see seagulls for a complete impression, but I know it was not their season.

I will just say- yes, it really looks like a roaring bear from close.
We passed Arkoudes on our boat tour around the island and it was magnificent!
Some people just couldn't see the bear and instead it looked like a bunny to them, but ok. :) It's up to your imagination!
I didn't swim to these rocks from Plathiena beach.

To be honest, rating for Alogomantra beach should be lower, if not much lower.

The water is not clean (a problem with all northern beaches, and I don't understand why), and you'll have a pleasure of swimming with plastic bags and other objects.
The right part, with a nice huge rock with a hole is small, but still very popular among young people, so you can expect to find it full of people and well, full of screaming.

I gave it higher rate only because the right side of it (although nothing special), is mostly abandoned, so you can enjoy in peace, plus the beach is sandy and tame.
And the small beach looks great with that huge rock.
