General information

Located in a semi-sheltered cove, Plathiena Beach in Milos is a lovely coast on the island's northern part, with a spacious sandy seashore and some scattered pebbles. It is an organized beach with sunbeds and umbrellas to rent, though it also has some tamarisk trees for natural shading purposes! Plathiena has calm, clean waters and a shallow sand-filled seabed.

Right beside the shore, a beachside tavern is offering coffee, drinks, and a plethora of dishes, as you gaze toward the endless teal! You can visit Plathiena by boat, or in most cases, drive through the dirt road leading to the beach, as there is plenty of parking space no more than fifteen meters away from the sea! Lastly, Plathiena boasts a gorgeous sunset, which many people believe is the best on the island.

    Very good to excellent
I have mixed feelings about Plathiena, but I decided to give it five stars anyway, although I'm sure most people would rate it five anyway, and I warmly recommend it.

    Positive:
    - Nice view at the open sea.
    - Plathiena is recognizable for its many sea colour shades, and you can see it in my photos.
    - Arkoudes is near.
    - The best sunset.
    - The beach looks magnificent from Plaka, because of its different colour.

    Negative:
    - Wonky seabed. It starts with pebbles, and getting into water is a torture. Then at one point and very deep water, after 50 meters, the pebbles turn into sand and the water becomes completely shallow, and you have to walk a lot to get it to the deep water again.
    - The coast is not that big and super-beautiful.
