Kythnos transportation

Kythnos is one of the closest islands to Athens, with a sufficiently developed road network that allows all means of transportation including buses, taxis, private vehicles and motorcycles. There are buses that link Chora with Merihas and Loutra, beautiful traditional villages with characteristic architecture.

From Merihas there is a bus service running to Dryopida and Panagia Kanala as well as some of the major spots of Kythnos. The itineraries are daily but not so frequent and serve the passengers until 9 o'clock at night. The port town of Merihas is the starting point for most of the trips around Kythnos. Buses are the cheapest way to travel, mingle with the locals and do some sightseeing.

For those who prefer a more private way of getting around Kythnos, there are many car and motorcycle rentals in Chora and Merihas, while taxis are also available. It is advisable to use your own vehicle, is you wish to access the most beautiful beaches and major spots of this island. There are traditional caiques that provide alternative transport to the isolated beaches and the exotic spots of Kythnos.
