main port of Kythnos island is Merihas, which also concentrates most bars and clubs, therefore the youngest tourists. A popular place is Loutra, on the northern side of Kythnos island, which was very famous in the past for the thermal springs. Now these internal springs do not work anymore, but there is an outdoor thermal spring in the sea.
 The most famous and characteristic beach of Kythnos is Kolona, a lovely bay divided with a land of sand in two parts. Many yachts moor there in summer, giving a slightly cosmopolitan atmosphere to this secluded beach. Secluded and unorganized beaches can be found all around Kythnos island, including Gaidouromantra, Kanala, Kalo Livadi and Apokrousi. Great for families and romantic couples, vacations in Kythnos can also be combined with island hopping to Sifnos, Serifos and Milos, the other islands of Western Cyclades. |
