History tells us that the Romans conquered Koufonisia in 2nd century BC along with the rest of the Greek islands. Venetians captured it again in the 13th century and the Turks captured it in the 16th century. In 1821, Koufonisia was finally liberated.
The only village of the island is Chora. Beautified by churches, art galleries and local shops, Chora is a unique experience that you may want to cherish.Koufonisia is famous as a beach holiday destination. It has some of the best Greek beaches. Sandy, shelving and calm they seem to be ideal for families as well.

Get your snorkeling equipment and head towards Koufonisia. Lagune Pori is considered a beautiful place as well. And if you’d like to visit the smaller beaches around Koufonisia, there is a boat service available.
The nightlife is Koufonisia is very pleasant, where you can enjoy your drink with good music in a naturally beautiful ambience. Food available on the island is by and large of the Greek variety. Pizzas and pasta are also available here. Keeping the small area of the island in mind, walking is the best method of getting around.
Reaching Koufonisia is very easy. You need to reach Naxos, Mykonos or Paros, or Athens Greece and just ferry it down in a boat. Just be a little careful of the weather – bad weather conditions may just delay the journey.
