The following festivals are most popular in Koufonisia island.
Name day of St George on the 23rd of April. Saint George is the patron saint of the island. On this auspicious day, his followers take out a procession of the icon of the saint. A chosen (by the current followers) believer of the saint sponsors free food.
Celebration of Panagia (Virgin Mary) on the 15th of August. The venue is a little ahead of the church of Kato Koufonisi. The service is usually followed by free food.

While returning to Pano Koufonisi in fishing boats, people often compete with each other. Victory here is again celebrated by a feast.
Another feast is celebrated in June in Koufonisia. This is the Fishermen Festival. The fishermen cook fish soup and serve it to visitors. This is followed by traditional music and dancing. |
