Description: Overlooking the harbour, this lovely whitewashed church is the island's landmark and the most photographed sight on Ios. The typical Cycladic chapel is recognizable by an age-old palm tree on its side. |

Description: This is the busiest beach on Ios and can get really crowded in summer. It is well organized and extends for one kilometer offering many options of food or drink, as well as of water sports. The nightlife there is absolutely incredible. |

Location: At the top of the hill over Chora
Description: The theatre was named after the famous revolutionary Greek poet Odysseas Elytis. Many of the cultural events on Ios such as music concerts, thatre festivals and performances take place there, mostly dyring summer. The spot was a favorite of the nobel prize winning poet himself, because of the breathtaking sight of Ios that it offers. It is considered as an "Aegean balcony". |
Location: 10 km away from Chora Description: At the seaside settlement of Agia Thoedoti are the remains of a Hellenistic tower and an ancient aqueduct. There are also water tanks from the Frankish period and you can admire the developed techniques used that many years ago. |
Location: 2 kilometers of Chora
Description: The region of Psathi is said to have the best beaches at this area. Beside this, an ancient temple was excavated there, dedicated to Poseidon Phytalmios. The temple is of Ionic style. Moreover, there are Mycenaean graves up on the hill worth visiting and the 17th century church of Saint Ioannis. |
